Kenai AK

After departing Homer we headed north on the Sterling Highway and zigged west to the city of Kenai.

Kenai is at the mouth of the Kenai River on Cook Inlet.  Dip-netting for salmon is very popular at the mouth of the river.  In 1985, a world record largest sport-caught Chinook, or king salmon was taken from the Kenai River, weighing in at 97 lbs 4oz.  A bluff overlooks the inlet, and one can watch the dip netters below.

Fixin' to clean their catch

This is one way to overcome the limitations of a minuscule RV freezer.

Keep out???  Duh!!!

Mama moose and calves in Old Town Kenai.  Don't get too close!!!

We had dinner at Paradisos Restaurant, a very nice Italian restaurant across from the visitor center.  After dinner we departed Kenai, drove through Soldotna and then north on the Sterling highway. We found a nice pull-off at MP 42.5 near Cooper landing on the Sterling Highway and spent the night.
