Camped on the North Shore

Today we moved north about 100 miles and are camped on the shores of Lake Superior. We are at Burlington Bay Campground, a municipal park, within walking distance of the town of Two Harbors, MN. We let Matilda play off-leash in the water at the lake shore, and she had a grand time.

We are about 20 miles from Duluth and plan to spend time seeing the sights there. We have been in Duluth many times, but never stayed long enough to see the sights. Lots of things are going on in Duluth during the summer and campsites are scarce. The Duluth Maritimes Festival, featuring the tall ships, ended Sunday. The Bayfront Blues Festival is this coming weekend in Duluth.

Matilda is getting so big! How much does she weigh now? Looks like she's quite the seasoned paddler isn't she?!?

I wouldn't say Matilda is a seasoned paddler yet. She is still not very relaxed in the boat. She often has two, and occasionally even three, paws on the gunwales, so she is never far from falling in. 15 days in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness will tell.

We are looking for a way to weigh her. I'll let you know when we find out.

Can't one of you hold her while you step on a bathroom scale? Do you have access to one? Have you tried this?
As always, we both enjoy the adventures of Myron, Dorcas, and Matilda. When are you going to add her name?
Continue to keep us posted, and travel safely. A and D

We asked at several places if they had bathroom scales so we could weigh Matilda, but we struck out each time. Yesterday we stopped at a veterinary office and weighed her: 22.3 pounds. I'm ready for her to quit growing. She is the perfect canoe-size right now.

I don't think we will give her billing on the Blog until her manners improve a bit.
