Let There Be Fire!!!

In a previous post I described the fire ban that went into effect this week. The ban affects the entire route we had planned for our BWCAW trip. Bummer.

Today we caved to our inner primeval needs and made a new reservation into an area not affected by the current fire ban. Ranger Roy at the Kawishiwi Ranger District station gazed into his crystal ball and predicted that the current ban would not be expanded into other areas during our trip. We have cancelled our prayers for rain. Let there be FIRE!!!!

Who the heck are Myron and Dorcas???

Myron retired from government service as an environmental engineer and bureaucrat in July 2006. Dorcas retired from her job as a senior systems analyst with a major apparel company a few months later. Since then we have spent most of our time touring the US in our 33' 2004 Country Coach Allure. We spend about 9 months each year traveling in our motor home, and still manage to log about 25 tent nights each year, usually on wilderness canoe trips. We travel with our Australian Shepherd "Matilda".

UPDATE: In November 2019 our Allure was mortally injured by a fallen 22" red oak. In December 2019 we purchased and are now traveling in our 37' Newmar Dutch Star.

Update #2.Matilda passed in April 2022. We are now traveling with "Ginger" an Australian Shepherd, born June 3, 2022.
