Ferry from Nova Scotia to Channel-Port aux Basques Newfoundland Labrador

Friday, June 6 is the big day!  On this day we board the ferry MV Highlanders from North Sydney NS for a 7-hour crossing to Channel-Port aux Basques NL  Although the ship is scheduled to depart at 11:45, we were advised to arrive at the ferry terminal by 8:00 am for a 9:45 check-in and for the 11:45 departure. Needless to say, we had a good bit of idle time during check in and boarding.

I think these two Newmar London Aires are about to copulate

We are finally boarded and parked

Passengers were not allowed on the vehicle decks once the ship was under way.  Pets remained in the vehicles for the duration of the passage.

There are big boats and there are small boats

Our group dined on the ship

The forward lounge was not very crowded

Unfortunately, there was no internet service on the ship.  I had hoped to use this time to update this journal.  DANG!

A fog had rolled in at Channel-Port aux Basques

Scott can't find Karma, his Newmar London Aire.  I hate it when that happens! (thanks for the video Scott W.)

We departed the ferry about 6:30 NT (Newfoundland Time).

Interesting time fact, from Wikipedia:

The Newfoundland Time Zone (NT) is a geographic region that keeps time by subtracting 3.5 hours from Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) during standard time, resulting in UTC−03:30; or subtracting 2.5 hours during daylight saving time.  It is observed solely in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. The Newfoundland Time Zone is the only active time zone with a half-hour offset from UTC in the Americas.

Does anybody really know what time it is?
Does anybody really care?
You know, I can’t imagine why
We've all got time enough to die

"Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?" is a song written and sung by Robert Lamm and recorded by the group Chicago. It was included on their 1969 debut album Chicago Transit Authority.  To hear the song on YouTube click HERE.

We arrived at Grand Codroy RV-Tent Camping Park in Doyles NL about 30 minutes later.  We will be in Newfoundland for almost 3 weeks before taking another, longer ferry passage from Argentia NL back to North Sydney NS.
